Sharon Morrissette has a MA from Chicago State University, and is a retired educator of Chicago Public Schools. She has done extensive work in the education field, working as a participant on Chicago Board Of Education Social Science Framework writing team and as well as the Task Force revision team. She was also a staff presenter for the Board Of Education Academic Social Science Standards and Frameworks, and developed curriculum for University of Illinois’s High Achievement Program. Sharon campaigned for Harold Washington with an organization called One Thousands Lights. In 2012, she successfully rallied with Committee Chairman Riley Rogers to oppose the landfill expansion in Dolton, IL and to influence Gov. Pat Quinn to not sign the bill. Sharon has been involved with DWSS since 2011, and is thrilled to join her other exec board members in growing this organization into a more substantial resource for those residing in the south suburbs. God is the light in her life and she’s blessed with a lovely, supportive daughter.
